Rabiu Mohammed’s hope of being part of Ghana’s team for the Africa Youth Championship has been scuttled due to injury.
The midfielder, who plays for Xerez Deportivo Club in the Spanish Segunda division, will not be named in Ghana’s final squad for the Championship to be hosted by Rwanda later this month.
Rabiu, a key personnel for Black Satellites coach, Sellas Tetteh, during the qualifying campaign is not expected to heal in time before the January 8 deadline set by the Confederation of African Football, Caf for the submission of the final squad lists for the tournament which starts on January 15 in Rwanda.
The injury to the midfielder is the second high profile loss to the Ghana team coming after Real Madrid's Daniel Opare, who was also ruled out due to an injury which would keep him out for three months.
