The next generation of Ghanaian referees is ready to take centre stage as 20 young match officials under the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Catch Them Young Referees policy arrive at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram for the second edition of the MTN Elite U-19 Championship.

The contingent comprises 10 referees and 10 assistant referees, who will officiate matches throughout the 11-day championship, gaining valuable experience in a competitive and structured environment.

The tournament, featuring 10 U-19 Regional teams, is scheduled to run from August 24 to September 4, 2026, bringing together some of the country’s most promising young footballers in a high-intensity youth football competition.

As the Regional teams battle for the coveted MTN Elite U-19 Championship title, the young referees will have an equally important role to play in ensuring the matches are conducted fairly, professionally and in accordance with the Laws of the Game.
