Increased Investment In Domestic Football: Each Ghana Premier League club to receive GHghs1 million support

President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has reaffirmed our commitment to building financially stronger and more competitive domestic clubs, with each of the 18 Ghana Premier League clubs set to receive GH¢1 million in financial support ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The announcement was made by the President at the 32nd Ordinary Congress held at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram on Thursday, August 20, 2026. The intervention forms part of the FA’s broader strategy of increasing investment in domestic football and creating a more sustainable financial foundation for clubs.

According to the President, the GH¢1 million support is designed to empower clubs, improve their financial stability and create the conditions necessary for sustained growth and competitiveness. The Association’s partnership with Adesa Productions Limited has played a key role in providing the funding, demonstrating the growing importance of commercial partnerships in supporting Ghana’s domestic game.

The latest commitment represents more than direct financial assistance to clubs. It signals a deliberate shift towards strengthening the economic foundations of the Ghana Premier League, where clubs continue to face significant operational costs associated with player salaries, logistics, matchday activities, administration and player development. By providing guaranteed financial support before the commencement of the season, the FA is seeking to give clubs greater financial certainty as they prepare for the demands of a new campaign.

The financial support is also part of a wider package of increased rewards and investment in the domestic game. The GFA has raised the prize money for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League champions to GH¢3 million, while a broader incentive structure will see GH¢7 million distributed among clubs based on their performance.

The measures announced at Congress underline the FA’s stated ambition to make domestic football financially stronger, commercially attractive and increasingly self-sustaining. With direct club support, enhanced prize money, improved commercial partnerships and investment across different levels of the football pyramid, the Association believes stronger clubs will ultimately translate into a stronger Ghana Premier League and a more vibrant domestic football ecosystem.
