Hearts of Oak host Medeama SC on Sunday

Accra Hearts of Oak will host second placed Medeama SC at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday with the Phobians hoping to get back to winning ways after their disappointing 3-2 loss to FC Samartex on Matchday 30.

The former League conceded in injury time to loss to the newly promoted side at Nana Nsenkyire Park as they recorded their third defeat in their last five Premier League matches.

They have won two and lost three of their last five matches and sit in 5th place with 45 points – 7 points behind leaders Aduana FC and 5 behind their visitors.

Medeama SC are 2nd in the League table with 50 points having won three of their last five matches with the other two ending in defeats.

Hearts of Oak managed a 1-0 win over Medeama SC in the first leg at the Akoon Park with Kwadwo Obeng Junior netting the only goal of the game in the 32nd minute.

The Phobians have won all their last two matches against Medeama SC at the Accra Sports Stadium since 2020-21 season and have also won three of their last five matches against Medeama SC with the other two ending in a draw.

The mauves and yellows will rely on top scorer Vincent Atinga Addae, nimble footed Derrick Fordjour, midfield dynamo Kwasi Donsu, top marksman Jonathan Sowah, Manuel Mantey and Nurudeen Abdulai whiles Hearts of Oak expect Salifu Ibrahim, Gladson Awako, Robert Addo Sowah, Benjamin York, Kwadwo Obeng Junior, Linda Mtange and Eric Esso to shine.

In other fixtures: Bibiani Gold Stars will face inform Tamale City at Dun’s Park. Gold Stars come into the game looking to improve their performance in the League after winning only one match in their last five outings.

Pandrous Kusi scored the match winner for Berekum Chelsea when the two teams in the first round of the season.

Karela United will slug things out with Accra Great Olympics at the CAM Park on Sunday with the latter managing a 1-0 win against the former in the first round at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Karela United sit in 13th place in the League as their fine display at Dormaa earned them a point against leaders Aduana FC. They have won two, drawn one and lost one in their last five matches while Great Olympics have two wins, two losses and one draw from their last five matches. Great Olympics have accumulated 38 points and sit in 15th place – one point above the drop.

Finally on Sunday, King Faisal will battle FC Samartex 1996 at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports complex.
