Asamoah Gyan injury-time goal earned Sunderland a point in the derby with Newcastle in the English Premier League on Sunday.

Newcastle had led through Nevin Nolan's goal shortly after half-time, as he back-heeled in from close range.

With Newcastle looking set to do the double over their neighbours, having thrashed them 5-1 earlier in the season, Sunderland equalised at the death, thanks to the Ghana international who was at the right spot to bundle in a rebound.

Phil Bardsley's shot was parried by Steve Harper and the ball deflected off Gyan's shin, looping into the net, sparking jubilant scenes amongst the home support as the Black Cats earned a share of the derby spoils.
