Asamoah Gyan has hinted of an early return to action with tests revealing he had not torn a muscle after picking up a thigh injury.
The Ghana striker picked up the injury while playing for Rennes in a French Lique 1 game over the weekend against Lorient.
Despite the encouraging news, no timescale has been set for the 22 year-old striker's return.
However, Gyan admits that the initial scans have given him hope that his expected to return to first-team action would be too long.
"The MRI scans showed that there were no damage which means there are good chances of me returning to the pitch early," he said.
"The only sticking point is the severe pain and as soon as the pain goes I should be ready for action."
The injury is the latest blow to a great season for the Ghana and Rennes striker who has scored 13 goals so far and remains Ligue 1's third joint top scorer.
