Ghana seal AFCON qualification with home win over Kenya

Ghana has confirmed qualification to the 2019 African Cup of Nations after finishing on top of Group F with 9points.

Winger Caleb Ekuban's 83rd lone goal helped the Black Stars beat Kenya in their qualifying match played at thd Accra Stadium on Saturday evening.

The first half ended barren between the two sides as the resilient Kenyan defense managed to keep hold the Ghanaian attack despite all the goal scoring opportunities.

Coach Kwesi Appiah introduced fresh legs in the second half with the last substitute Ekuban rounding up his marker around the 80th minute and drive the ball through the arms of Kenyan Goalkeeper Patrick Matasi to give the Black Stars a deserving win.

With Saturday's result, Ghana finish on top of Group F with 9 points with the Kenyans also qualifying to this year's AFCON with 7 points.

The 2019 AFCON tournament will run from June 7- July 30, 2019 with Egypt as the host nation.
