Ghana mourns Stars captain

Addo Oddamettey, captain of the Ghana side that won the 1965 African Cup of Nations, has died at the age of 69 after a short illness.

According to a family source, Addo Oddamettey who won many caps for Ghana captained the Black Stars from 1964 to 1970 passed away on December 29, 2006.

Addo Oddamettey, skipper of the victorious Black Stars squad that the 1965 African Cup of Nations in Tunisia is survived by a wife and six children.

He was also a captain of Accra Hearts of Oak and later became coach of the club.

Funeral announcements will be announced later.
