The first-ever Fifa Com-Unity seminar in West Africa kicked off successfully on Tuesday 5 May in Accra, Ghana with presentations by GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi, Kalusha Bwalya representative of FIFA President Sepp Blatter and Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntanka, the Minister for Sports.
Ghana opened the three-day Com-Unity seminar which gathered various football stakeholders to deliberate on the values of the sport.
The seminar, the first of its kind on in West Africa is geared at developing the game at the grassroots level.
The Fifa-sponsored seminar which is being hosted by the Ghana Football Association is under the theme “Building stronger collaboration between Ghana Football Association and key stakeholders.”
In a message before participants headed into the seminar, President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi tasked all stakeholders to embrace the important event with positiveness.
"The seminar is expected to bridge the communication gap between the FA and its community partners and erase the erroneous impression created about the relationship between the FA and the Government.
"The FIFA Community seminar will bring to the fore all the strategies needed to market and raise resources for football. Participants will also discuss how to attract and maintain sponsors for football.
"The FIFA Community seminar is welcome. Participants are advised to harness fully the opportunity from this seminar and ensure that at the end, they will be richer in knowledge and ideas on new and more efficient methods of running football in its totality in Ghana," Ghana's football chief said.
Fifa’s Com-Unity, a presidential programme seeks to gather members of the FA, its government, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) working in the country, other partners and the media to cooperate and communicate all geared developing the game at the grassroots level.
