The Black Maidens have been drawn into Group B of the 2027 U-17 Girls Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifying Tournament alongside regional rivals Nigeria, Togo and Niger.
The tournament, which also doubles as the WAFU Zone B U-17 Girls Championship, will determine the teams that qualify to represent the zone at next year’s U-17 Girls AFCON tournament.
The Black Maidens face a challenging group, with Nigeria expected to provide a particularly strong test given the country’s pedigree in women’s youth football. Togo and Niger will also be looking to upset the established order and advance to the next stage of the competition.
The tournament will be hosted by Côte d’Ivoire and is scheduled to kick off on September 15, 2026. Ghana will be hoping to make a strong start to their campaign and navigate the group stage successfully as they target a return to the continental championship.
Ghana will enter the WAFU Zone B U17 Girls Tournament with high expectations as they seek to secure qualification for the 2027 continental showpiece.
The Black Maidens will be determined to emerge from Group B and take another step towards securing a place among Africa’s best U-17 women’s teams.
