The Black Maidens would seek to pick their first win at the FIFA Women's U-17 World Cup when Ghana plays Germany on Saturday in Christchurch.

After drawing their opening group game against Korea DPR, the Black Maidens would be in search of a win against a high-flying German side that recorded a stomping 5-0 victory over Costa Rica.

Certainly, the performance of the German team, who are European champions, makes them the team to beat as at New Zealand 2008.

Despite showing a strong character, that saw them rally back to draw in their opening game, Ghana would have to be focused in defence and cut down on any wastefulness to stand a chance against the Germans.

"We played well but we also made too many mistakes. I want to forget about this game now and concentrate on the next one and if we're going to progress we need to train even harder.

“There are some technical aspects we have to improve but we won't be changing anything in terms of tactics,” Ghana’s coach, Abraham Allotey said ahead of the German game.

Ghana’s team would have affair idea of what to expect in tomorrow’s game after having undergone a training tour of Germany and played against local sides in the run up to the tournament.

Also in Christchurch, Korea DPR will take on Costa Rica in the other Group B match.
