The Football Association has intensified its commitment to child protection in football by organising a safeguarding and integrity training session for coaches undertaking the GFA License D Coaching Course in the Greater Accra Region.
The training brought together two batches of coaches for comprehensive sessions on safeguarding, child protection and the responsibility of adults working with young players.
Participants were introduced to the scope of safeguarding in football, with emphasis on the need to create environments where children feel safe, respected, heard and supported throughout their development.
The session also addressed the prevention of abuse in football, encouraging coaches to remain vigilant and take proactive steps to protect young players from all forms of harm.
Particular attention was given to the risks of exploitation, including false promises of professional opportunities, unsafe recruitment arrangements and individuals seeking to take advantage of young players’ ambitions. Coaches were reminded of their duty to identify potential threats and ensure that the pursuit of a football career does not expose children to abuse or exploitation.
Through such initiatives, the GFA continues to promote a culture of safeguarding and responsibility across the game, working towards football environments where young players can pursue their ambitions, develop their potential and enjoy the sport with confidence and protection.
