The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has disbursed the first tranche of financial support to clubs participating in the 2025/26 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League, marking another significant step in strengthening the women’s game.

Each of the 20 Premier League clubs has received GH₵25,000, accumulating to a total of GHc500,000 which forms part of the GFA’s broader commitment to easing operational pressures on teams ahead of the new season. Thus, the entire 50% payment made by sponsor, Malta Guinness has gone to the 20 Women's Premier League clubs.

The support is expected to assist clubs in their operations.

It could be recalled the GFA has already taken steps to support the various clubs with the distribution of soccer boots (30 pairs each), GHc5,000 worth of Melcom shopping vouchers and footballs ahead of the season.

The initiative forms part of the GFA’s continued investment in women’s football, ensuring that teams are adequately resourced as the league grows in competitiveness and visibility.

It also aligns with ongoing efforts to enhance club structures and improve the overall standard of the women’s league.

The remaining tranches of the support package will be released by the GFA in due course.
