GFA Elite Academy (Prempeh College) Records Double Victory Over Arthur Academy in Friendly Matches
The GFA Elite Academy at Prempeh College delivered an impressive performance on home soil with victories in both the Under-15 and Under-17 friendly matches against Kumasi-based Arthur Academy at the Alignment Astro Turf. The fixtures formed part of the Academy’s ongoing development programme and preparations for upcoming competitions.
In the Under-15 encounter, the Elite Academy side demonstrated remarkable composure and tactical discipline from the onset. Their dominance was rewarded midway through the first half when Prince Yiyiawa initiated a swift counterattack, beating two defenders before delivering a precise cross for Yussif Sabit to open the scoring. The home side extended their lead in the 29th minute through Dennis Duah, who rose highest to head home from a well-delivered free kick, sealing a convincing 2–0 win.
The Under-17 match presented a more competitive contest, with Arthur Academy showing resilience and intent. The visitors took the lead following a defensive lapse, capitalizing on the opportunity to go 1–0 ahead. However, the Elite Academy responded positively, restoring parity before halftime through a well-taken strike by Stanley Benianah after a fluid midfield build-up.
The second half saw both sides create scoring opportunities in a closely contested affair, with goalkeepers from both teams producing crucial saves. As the match approached its conclusion, Masaponyah Kwaku Snr emerged as the difference-maker, scoring a spectacular long-range goal to secure a 2–1 victory for the Elite Academy.
Speaking after the matches, Elite Academy Manager Daasebre Adu-Asare Michael emphasized the importance of the fixtures in the team’s development process. He noted that the games provided valuable preparation ahead of the upcoming Elite Championship at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
He also expressed appreciation to GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, the Executive Council, and FIFA for their continued support and commitment to youth football development. The results reaffirm the Academy’s progress and underline its role in nurturing the next generation of Ghanaian football talent.
