The Ghana Football Association extended their impressive run in the UG Corporate Football League with a well-deserved 2-0 win over Ghana National Petroleum Corporation.
The GFA dominated the first half in all departments, setting the tone early in the contest. Ishmael opened the scoring in just the 3rd minute, giving GFA a dream start. Their control and attacking intent continued throughout the half, and Eric Donkor doubled the lead on the stroke of halftime. The goal came under unfortunate circumstances for GNPC, whose goalkeeper was injured in the build-up and had to be replaced.
The second half began with GNPC introducing a new goalkeeper as they looked to regroup. While they showed improved urgency and increased their tempo, they struggled to break down a well-organized GFA defensive setup.
In the 17th minute, GFA made a substitution, with Gideon making way for Quaye, as they maintained tactical discipline and control of the game.
Tensions boiled over in the final minute as the GNPC captain was shown a red card, capping a frustrating afternoon for his side.
