FIFA TDS: GFA Elite Academies in Bolgatanga and Kumasi to Participate in 2025 Elite U15 Boys Colts Championship
History will be made later this month when the two GFA Elite U15 Academies in Bolgatanga and Kumasi participate for the first time in the Elite U15 Boys Colts Championship, scheduled for August 25 to 31, 2025 at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence (GSCE), Prampram.
The academies, established by the Association as part of its long-term vision to strengthen youth football development, combine formal education with professional football training. The Kumasi-based academy operates from Prempeh College, while the Bolgatanga academy is situated at Winkongo, in the Upper East regional capital, operates from the Bolgatanga Senior High School.
Their inclusion in the national championship alongside the 10 football regions is being hailed as a major milestone, as it provides the academies with the opportunity to test their talent against the best colts players from across the country.
It also reflects the GFA’s strategic commitment to building a sustainable pipeline for Ghana’s future national teams.
The Volta Region, winners of the maiden edition in 2024, and last season’s runners-up Ashanti Region will now face fresh competition from the academies, setting the stage for an exciting and unpredictable tournament.
This year’s Elite U15 Boys Colts Championship promises to showcase not only regional pride but also the effectiveness of the GFA’s grassroots development model—cementing the championship as a key event in Ghana’s youth football calendar.
