Emmanuel Yeboah scoops Man of the Match award in win over Congo

Emmanuel Yeboah was named as the Man of the Match after climibing off the bench to score two goals and provide one assist in Ghana’s 3-2 win over Congo in the 2023 TotalEnergies U-23 Africa Cup of Nations Group A opener on Sunday.

The forward who replaced captain Daniel Afriyie Barnieh and made cutting in from the right side for Ernest Nuamah to nod home in 50 minutes. Yeboah made in 2-0 in the 76th minute before scoring his brace on 83 minutes from the penalty spot. 

Yeboah’s spirited second half performance was vital in Ghana’s win.

After receiving his Man of the Match plaque from the organizers of the competition, Yeboah attributed his performance to hard work and thanked his team mates for their support.

“I achieved this by hard work and I want to thank my teammates for the support they gave me on the pitch”, he said at the pre- match press conference.

The Black Meteors are top of Group A with three points, same as their next opponents Morocco who beat Guinea 2-1 on Saturday.

Ghana will face Morocco at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium on Tuesday, June 27.
