The Eastern Regional Football Association (ERFA) will commence its 2026/2027 regional competitions on Saturday, 10 October 2026, with the Eastern Cup Competition.

The Preliminary Stage continues on 14 and 18 October, while the Eastern RFA Division Two League begins on Saturday, 24 October 2026, at approved centres across the Region.

The Eastern Cup brings together 64 clubs in four geographical Zones and 16 groups of four clubs. Each group will play a single round-robin competition, with the top two teams progressing to the Round of 32.

The two finalists will qualify for the National MTN FA Cup, subject to applicable GFA requirements. The Division Two League will feature 56 clubs across four Zones of 14.

In his goodwill message, ERFA Chairman Mr. Linford Boadu Asamoah identified increased competitive playing opportunities as the Association’s foremost priority. He said the objective is to enable footballers to play more matches, develop their abilities, gain exposure and progress through the football development pathway.

The Executive Council has also directed that only referees from the GFA Catch Them Young (CTY) Refereeing Programme officiate Eastern Cup matches this season. The initiative is intended to give promising young referees practical match experience, supported by mentorship, supervision and performance assessment.

The Chairman stressed that the development agenda extends beyond players and referees to coaching education, club administration, youth and women’s football, fair officiating, and stronger competition management. The Association also intends to expand digital match filming and live streaming of selected matches through Eastern RFA TV and its official social media platforms, while seeking sponsorship and strategic partnerships.

Mr. Asamoah appealed to clubs, coaches, players, match officials and supporters to uphold fair play, discipline, professionalism and peaceful conduct throughout the season.

“We are not merely organising football competitions; we are building an environment where players, young referees, coaches, club administrators and our wider football community can develop and progress,” the Chairman stated.

The Eastern RFA wishes all clubs, officials and supporters a successful, peaceful and competitive 2026/2027 football season.
