The chance to dream of cup glory started on Tuesday for some lower division sides as the MTN FA Cup finally kicked off for the first time since 2001.

Two games heralded the start of the 2010/11 competition yesterday but the bulk of the Preliminary Round matches would be played today [Wednesday] nationwide.

This season's knockout competition would see 112 sides involved in a total of 111 games in the tournament since Asante Kotoko last won the Cup, beating King Faisal nine years ago

The FA Cup by its tradition always involves clubs from all tiers of the Ghana league system playing against each other for the ultimate trophy.

The first day of the competition saw DC Utd beating Binbiem 3-0 at the Coronation Park while No Weapon Fc also won 3-0 past Dormaa Unity in Bolgatanga. DC Utd and No Weapon Fc advance to the next stage of the knockout competition.

The draw for the Round of 64 would be made after the completion of the Preliminary Round ties.
