Champions Medeama handed tough title defence as Dreams, Kotoko and Hearts await in testing 2026/27 fixture list
Reigning champions Medeama SC will launch the defence of their 2026/27 Ghana Premier League crown with a tough away trip to Dreams FC, following the release of the new season's fixtures by the Football Association.
The Mauve and Yellow enter the campaign on the back of a memorable title-winning season and will be determined to retain the Premier League crown. However, their quest for back-to-back league triumphs promises to be anything but straightforward, with a tricky fixture schedule awaiting the Tarkwa-based club from the opening weekend.
After their curtain-raiser against Dreams FC, Medeama will return to the TnA Stadium for their first home match of the season, where they welcome newly promoted Port City FC. They will then make the trip to Tema to face Vision FC before returning home for the first Western Derby of the campaign against Basake Holy Stars on Matchday Four.
Medeama's rivalry with fellow Western Region clubs will once again take centre stage during the campaign. The champions travel to FC Samartex 1996 on Matchday Seven in one of the season's most eagerly anticipated Western derbies before hosting Bibiani Gold Stars in another blockbuster fixture on Matchday 15.
One of the defining moments of Medeama's title defence could come later that same period when they travel to Kumasi to face Asante Kotoko on Matchday Nine, with the heavyweight showdown scheduled for the October 30–November 2, 2026 weekend.
The champions' campaign concludes with another stern examination as they travel to Accra to face Hearts of Oak on the final day of the season, a fixture that could carry enormous significance depending on the state of the title race.
