Ampem Darkoa Ladies have expressed gratitude to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), their supporters and Ghanaians following their qualification for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League, with special praise reserved for GFA General Secretary, lawyer Prosper Harrison Addo, for his leadership during the club’s successful appeal process.

The Ghanaian champions secured their place at the continental showpiece after defeating Nigeria’s Edo Queens 3-2 in the continuation of the WAFU Zone B qualifying final in Egypt on Thursday, October 29, 2026.

The victory brought an end to a protracted dispute surrounding the original fixture, which ended 2-2 before Edo Queens prevailed in the penalty shootout. Ampem Darkoa subsequently challenged the outcome, with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) upholding their appeal and ordering that the match resume from extra time.

Following the ruling and the decisive victory on the pitch, Ampem Darkoa Ladies President, Nana Opoku Fosu Gyeabour II, commended the GFA for its support throughout the process, singling out General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo for his role in pursuing the club’s case.

“We thank all stakeholders, particularly lawyer Prosper Harrison Addo, who led our petition and subsequently won at the appeal hearing,” Nana Opoku Fosu Gyeabour II said.

The club president also praised GFA President Edwin Kurt Simeon-Okraku for his leadership, encouragement and insistence that the team remain calm and allow the established regulations to guide the process.

Ampem Darkoa Ladies further acknowledged the support of women’s football clubs, their fans and Ghanaians, whose encouragement helped the team navigate a difficult period and maintain its focus on securing qualification.

“We are also grateful to the women’s football clubs, the supporters and all Ghanaians for their varied levels of support, which contributed to our qualification for the CAF Women’s Champions League,” he added.

With their place at the continental competition now secured, the champions have turned their attention to representing Ghana against some of Africa’s leading women’s clubs.

“We hope to represent our country very well,” Nana Opoku Fosu Gyeabour II said.

The achievement marks another significant milestone for Ampem Darkoa Ladies, who have once again emerged as WAFU Zone B champions after overcoming both a challenging appeal process and a decisive contest on the pitch.

Their qualification also marks the club’s second appearance at the CAF Women’s Champions League, following their impressive debut in 2023, when they reached the semi-final stage and finished among the competition’s top four teams.

Ampem Darkoa Ladies will now look to build on that experience as they prepare to fly Ghana’s flag on the continental stage.
