The Black Queens secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Côte d’Ivoire in a crucial FIFA Women’s World Cup play-off encounter.
The Black Queens started with on the right foot and were rewarded when Princess Marfo found the back of the net to put Ghana ahead.
Côte d’Ivoire responded with renewed intensity and eventually found an equaliser through the spot. Ghana however, regained composure and continued to push for the winning goal.
The persistence paid off when the team was awarded a penalty, with Josephine Bonsu stepping up to calmly convert from the spot and restore the lead.
The Black Queens held firm through the closing stages, managing the game effectively to secure a valuable 2-1 victory.
The result keeps Ghana’s World Cup dream firmly alive as the Black Queens continue the quest for a place at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
