Black Queens begin defense of WAFU trophy on Wednesday

The Black Queens will begin their defense of the WAFU Women’s Championship title on Wednesday in their tournament opener against Senegal.

Defending Champions Ghana we in Group A alongside tournament hosts Cote D’Ivoire, Togo and the Senegalese side.

The Black Queens beat their Ivorian counterparts by a lone goal in last year’s final match to lift the trophy.

Coach Mercy Tagoe and her side arrived in Abidjan on Monday and began training at the Treichville Sports Park in Abidjan ahead of their opening game.

The Coach attended the Pre match press conference where she expressed confidence that her side are ready to defend their title.

Ghana will play Togo in their next life Group match before they face the hosts in their last group match.

African women’s champions Nigeria are in group B alongside Burkina Faso, Niger and Mali.

Kick off time for Ghana’s game against Cote D’Ivoire is 6:30pm.
