Ghana’s Black Meteors will face Libya in the next qualifying round of the TotalEnergies CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations Egypt 2027.

The two nations will battle over two legs between November 9 and 17, 2026, with Ghana travelling to Libya for the first encounter before hosting the North Africans in the return leg.

Libya booked their place in the second qualifying round after overcoming Togo 4-1 on aggregate in the preliminary stage.

The Libyans held Togo to a 1-1 draw in Lomé before producing a commanding 3-0 victory at home to seal their progression.

Ghana received a bye into the second round and will now begin their qualification campaign against Libya.

Victory over Libya on aggregate would send Ghana through to the final qualifying round, where they would face the winner of the tie between Equatorial Guinea U-23 and Niger U-23.

The final qualifying round is scheduled for March 22-30, 2027.

The three-round qualification process will determine the seven teams that will join hosts Egypt at the eight-team U-23 Africa Cup of Nations finals.

Qualification would also give Ghana an opportunity to end a long wait for an Olympic appearance, with the Black Meteors last featuring at the men’s Olympic football tournament at the 2004 Athens Games.
