Kwesi Appiah has underlined his player call-up policy as Ghana coach, promising equal opportunities for all depending on form guide.

The new Black Stars coach has declared he wants competition for places in the team to be keener after he was formally introduced to the Ghana media on Tuesday.

"Competition for places in the Black Stars will be on merit and not automatic," Appiah told the media.

For the former assistant coach, who begins a new era, he needs two players for every position in the team.

"I want two or three players for every position. We will not want to rely on just one player for any position in the team.

"I have a list of 30 players at the moment but if you are outside this list, you can still be invited. It's always better for the team when you pick an in-form player. We need equally good substitutes and keep others on stand-by who can easily be brought in when needed," the Black Stars coach said.

Appiah has signed a two-year renewable contract with the Ghana Football Association.
