FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

16 OCTOBER 2026

ANNOUNCEMENT - INTERIM TECHNICAL TEAM FOR BLACK STARS' NOVEMBER INTERNATIONAL FIXTURES

The Ghana Football Association (GFA), in consultation with the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, has accepted the recommendation of the Black Stars Coach Search Committee to appoint an interim technical team for the Black Stars' November fixture against Somalia

Following an extensive review process and consultations with a number of qualified coaching candidates, the Committee determined that the most effective approach for this important period was the appointment of a complementary technical team capable of providing continuity, experienced leadership, and a strategic direction as the Black Stars navigate an important period of transition and renewal.

The interim technical team will be led by Kim Lars Björkegren, who will work alongside Ibrahim Tanko and Godwin Attram as Assistant Coaches, with Fatawu Dauda serving as Goalkeepers Coach.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA), in consultation with the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, and the Black Stars Coach Search Committee believe this combination brings together a strong blend of international experience, local knowledge, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of the Ghanaian football landscape. The complementarity of their backgrounds and skill sets will provide the leadership and support required to prepare the team effectively for the upcoming fixtures.

Additional multidisciplinary technical and support staff members will be assigned to ensure the team is fully equipped to meet the demands of the November international window.

This interim arrangement applies specifically to the November fixtures while the Search Committee continues its work in accordance with its mandate.

The Ministry, Football Association and Search Committee remain fully committed to ensuring that both the Black Stars and Black Queens receive the technical and operational support required to meet their respective objectives during the upcoming international period.

We call on all Ghanaians to rally behind the team and support the players and technical staff as they prepare to represent the nation.
