Chairman of the Central Regional Football Association (CRFA), Robert Otieku Duncan, has received a citation award from Ankaful Maximum Security Prison, Cape Coast, for his unwavering support towards developing soccer in the prison and the region at large.
This follows a long-standing collaboration between Ankaful Prison and the Central Regional Football Association. The CRFA has donated several football items, including trophies, medals, footballs, goalpost nets, referees' flags, and whistles, to the inmates for their annual football league.
The Association has also supported the prison with certified referees who officiate their league matches. Presenting the citation at the official launch of the 2025/26 Inmates League, Regional Prisons Commander DDP Joseph Asabre hailed the FA's support and called for deeper collaboration between the two entities.
"We are not oblivious to your commitment and dedication towards our league. We're exceedingly grateful for your invaluable support," he stated.
Robert Duncan expressed his excitement about the honor and pledged his administration's continued support for the Inmates League.
"I'm glad for the honor bestowed on me. My administration remains steadfast and ready to support you with logistics when needed," he said.
The second round of the Ankaful Maximum Prison Inmates League kicked off with Block D3 beating Block C3 3-1. The league continues this weekend with intriguing matchups as blocks vie for honors.
