Ajegipina Zakaria, one of the exciting young talents from Ampem Darkoa Ladies FC, is still basking in the joy of receiving her maiden call-up to the Black Queens. For the young player, the news was a dream come true.

Zakaria vividly remembers the moment she found out she had been selected to represent her country. "I was very, very happy," she said. "I was at Ampem Darkoa when they told me they were calling me to come and play for the Black Queens. I told my parents first."

Her journey to this point began at a remarkably young age. "I started playing football when I was about two years old," she revealed.

Growing up, she often played with boys, as girls' football wasn't as widely embraced in her community. "Girls, they don't take football as something that is very, very good. But because of the guys, the way they are playing, I also joined them."

Zakaria also spoke highly of her source of inspiration within the team, captain Portia Boakye.

"First, I was happy to have Portia. She's a good player. If I'm playing with her, I'm always happy because she's a talented player."
