Accra Lions stun Asante Kotoko in Kumasi

Former champions Asante Kotoko suffered yet another defeat in the Ghana Premier League - a 3-2 loss to Accra Lions at the Baba Yara Sports stadium on Wednesday.

Blessing Asuman netted a brace in-between Dominic Amponsah's sensational strike to condemn the Porcupine Warriors to another home defeat.

Accra Lions came into the game looking to continue their fine form in the second round of the season. Ibrahim Tank's side have been absolutely sublime since the resumption of the League as they went into the Kotoko game on the back of a 5-0 thumping of Berekum Chelsea on Saturday.

Blessing Asuman broke the deadlock after receiving a delicious pass from Daniel Awuni on the left, before smashing the ball past Kotoko goalkeeper Moise Pouaty. Asante Kotoko responded 20 minutes later through Kalo Ouattara, who drilled home the equalizer after getting on the end of a cross from Andrews Appau. The former Berekum Chelsea man calmly controlled the pass before unleashing a left-footed strike into the back of the net to level matters for the Reds.

Lions started the second half as the better side - with Blessing Asuman scoring his second of the day in the 48th minute after connecting with Seidu Sadat. finding Asuman who fired home to restore the lead in the 49th minute.

Accra Lions took control of proceedings and built from the back after a well defended corner kick as substitute Bernard Kesse combined with Dominic Amponsah for the third goal.

Substitute Bernard Somuah, grabbed a consolation for Asante Kotoko but it was not enough to save the Reds as Accra Lions held on to beat Asante Kotoko 3-2.
