2026 MTN Elite U-19: Participants undergo orientation ahead of kickoff

Participants of the 2026 MTN Elite U-19 Boys Championship have undergone an extensive orientation session at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram ahead of the official commencement of the highly anticipated youth football tournament.

The orientation, held on Monday, August 24, 2026, brought together players, coaches, team officials and other key stakeholders a day before the competition kicks off, with the session aimed at ensuring all participants are adequately prepared for a safe, disciplined and successful championship.

The programme opened with a welcome address by Enoch Agyare Addo, Vice-Chairman of the MTN Elite U-19 Championship Organising Committee, who urged all participating teams to demonstrate discipline, respect, fair play and sportsmanship throughout the competition.

Mr. Agyare Addo also highlighted the broader significance of the championship, describing it as an important developmental platform for identifying, nurturing and exposing some of Ghana’s most promising young footballers, with the potential to progress into the various national teams.

Participants were subsequently taken through important operational guidelines by Michael Daasebre Adu Asare, Regional Football Association Coordinator, who outlined the dos and don’ts governing the use of the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence.

He stressed the responsibility of all participants to protect the Centre’s facilities and infrastructure while maintaining high standards of discipline, respect and professionalism both on and off the pitch.

The session also featured a presentation by Obed Tufuor, Compliance and Integrity Officer, who engaged participants on safeguarding and the importance of creating a safe and respectful environment for young players and all stakeholders involved in the championship.

Additional presentations and pep talks covered key areas including medical preparedness, player welfare, matchday conduct and general tournament protocols, ensuring that teams were fully briefed on the expectations and procedures for the duration of the competition.

The orientation provided an opportunity for participants to clarify important issues and familiarise themselves with the standards and responsibilities required throughout the tournament.

The MTN Elite U-19 Boys Championship officially kicks off on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, with regional teams from across the country set to compete for honours in one of Ghana’s key youth football development competitions.

Proudly sponsored by MTN Ghana, the championship forms an integral part of the Ghana Football Association’s “Power to the Youth” initiative, which seeks to establish a structured pathway for young footballers to progress from grassroots football to the professional game and national teams.

In attendance at the orientation were members of the MTN Elite U-19 Championship Organising Committee, led by Vice-Chairman Enoch Agyare Addo, alongside Samuel Owusu Amoah, Michael Fiaduse and Edem Kofi Ansah, among other officials.
