Football action returns to the Northern Region as the 2025/26 Division Two League officially kicks off on November 8. This season promises intense competition, renewed rivalries and exciting storylines as 48 clubs battle for supremacy and the ultimate dream of securing qualification to the Division One League.

The expanded roster of participating teams has sparked widespread anticipation among football fans across the region. While many community-based clubs will be hoping to make a name for themselves, the spotlight will undoubtedly fall on some of the more established sides making a return to the lower tier.

Among the notable contenders are Binbiem FC, Steadfast FC, Tamale Utrecht and Gbewaa FC, all former Division One League clubs with significant experience at the higher level. Their presence is expected to raise the competitive standard of the league, offering younger and emerging clubs an opportunity to test themselves against seasoned opposition.

Steadfast FC and Tamale Utrecht, in particular, have vibrant youth systems and strong followings in Tamale. Their return adds extra excitement, with supporters eager to see if they can navigate the long and demanding season to earn promotion back to the Division One League. Gbewaa FC and Binbiem FC also bring rich histories and competitive pedigree that could shape the title race.

The Northern Regional Football Association (NRFA) has assured stakeholders of a smooth league campaign, emphasizing improved organization, officiating and matchday experience. The NRFA believes the participation of 48 clubs reflects the region’s growing football culture and the increasing interest from communities and young talents.
