The Football Association has fulfilled its annual financial commitment to all 20 clubs in the Gold Fields Women’s Premier League, delivering a significant boost to women’s football as the 2026/27 season gets underway.

Each of the 20 participating clubs has received GH¢100,000 in financial support, in fulfilment of a pledge made by President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku to strengthen the financial capacity of women’s football clubs and promote the continued growth of the women’s game in Ghana.

The financial assistance, disbursed on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, amounts to a total of GH¢2 million, with each of the 20 clubs receiving GH¢100,000.

Beyond the direct financial assistance, the Football Association has reaffirmed its commitment to covering referees’ and Match Commissioners’ fees throughout the season. This measure is expected to further reduce the financial obligations of participating clubs while ensuring the smooth organisation and administration of league matches.

As part of the broader support package, each of the 20 clubs will also receive 30 pairs of football boots to enhance player welfare and provide essential equipment for training and match-day activities.

Additionally, fuel support from GOIL as well souvenirs from Melcom as will form part of the package, offering further assistance to clubs as they travel for matches and manage the logistical demands of the season.

The timely delivery of the promised assistance represents a significant step in President Simeon-Okraku’s commitment to the development of women’s football, as the 20 clubs embark on the 2026/27 campaign with renewed support and confidence.
