The 11th edition of the Sheikh Sharubutu Ramadan Cup is set to light up the Madina Astro Turf on Monday, March 23, 2026, as communities gather for one of Ghana’s most symbolic grassroots football tournaments, backed once again by the Football Association.
Held under the theme “Bringing Zongo Communities Together,” this year’s competition will feature sixteen (16) communities pushing for ultimate glory in a tournament that continues to strengthen unity, identity and sporting excellence within Zongo communities across the country.
Named in honour of the revered National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, the annual competition has grown into a key fixture on the local football calendar.
Since its inception in 2015, when the maiden edition was launched at the GFA headquarters, the tournament has enjoyed consistent support from the Football Association, particularly in the provision of logistics and officiating.
Beyond institutional backing, the competition has also attracted support from top Ghanaian footballers, including Black Stars standouts Mohammed Kudus and Kamaldeen Sulemana, who have contributed jerseys for participating teams, as well as trophies and individual awards, further elevating the prestige of the event.
The grand finale on Monday is expected to draw significant attention, with GFA General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo set to grace the occasion.
