The Tamale Sports Stadium recorded a major upset as Heart of Lions thrashed home team, Real Tamale United 4-0 in an outstanding OneTouch Premier League match.

RTU’s defeat at home is the heaviest recorded by the Tamale-based club since they joined the elite division in 1976.

Starting with verve, Real Tamale United failed to make their dominance count as the away team drew first blood in the 21st minute after Edmund Owusu Ansah drilled a shot from some 20 metres to open the scoring.

Eleven minutes later and Heart of Lions made it 2-0 with the second goal coming Osei Banahene

Lions headed into the break two goals up and with seven minutes into the second half, Dominic Adiyah scored to increase the tally, putting the game beyond the dispirited players of RTU.

Matters got out of hand as a defensive mix up aided Heart of Lions to seal the fate of their opponents in the 76th minute as Osei Banahene grabbed a brace when he stroked a loose ball past the RTU goalkeeper.

In the other league game at the Swedru Park, bottom club, Accra Great Olympics claimed a point off Sekondi Hasaacas as they drew goalless.

The point earned sees Hasaacas move out of the bottom three via a better goals difference.
