Events of the second to last round of games means the final day matches in the Glo Premier League will decide the title destination.
It is now confirmed that champions, Hearts of Oak have failed to defend the title won last season and two teams, Eleven Wise and Hasaacas, both based in Sekondi relegated. A third will join them after the final day round of games.
The title could either be heading to Obuasi where AshantiGold are based on to Dormaa, the grounds of debutants, Aduana Stars.
AshantiGold’s hopes of ending their 14 year title drought was delayed as Aduana put in a strong performance to set May 12 as the decider.
The Miners rallied back from a goal down to beat ten-man All Stars 3-1 at the Len Clay Stadium to keep their hopes of winning a fourth premier league title alive.
Frederick Quayeson’s equalizer after Nathaniel Asamoah had put the Blues in the lead was followed up with two quick strikes from Aminu Mohammed as All Stars had Ebenzer Adjei sent off.
The win could have won AshantiGold the title but Aduana’s 1-0 win over Liberty Professionals at the Carl Reindorf Park ensured that their respective final day matches will decide who wins the competition.
For Aduana who have exceeded expectations in their debut premiership season, winning the title would be a massive bonus to their campaign as they close in on Champions League qualification ticket.
Hearts of Oak are completely out of contention for the title after a recent run of poor results in their last two games. The Phobians could only draw 1-1 with King Faisal at the Baba Yara Stadium and now risk the chance of missing out of the Champions League competition for a second consecutive time.
After going ahead through Samuel Affum after 14 minutes, Hearts allowed Faisal back in the game when Emmanuel Odoi grabbed the equalizer nine minutes into the start of the second half.
Heart of Lions kept their top-four hopes alive with a 4-2 victory over relegated Sekondi Hasaacas at the Kpando Park.
Lions, however face a rather tough test with All Stars and Berekum Arsenals also keeping up the pressure. Arsenals shared the spoils with Chelsea in the Berekum derby at the Golden City Park.
Great Olympics, still caught up in the relegation struggle continued their quest to play in the premiership next season after defeating Kessben FC 2-0 at the El Wak Stadium.
Eleven Wise ended their premiership fairytale after losing 3-1 to Asante Kotoko at the Coronation Park. Wise join another Sekondi-based side, Hasaacas into relegation.
Real Tamale United managed a 1-0 win over New Edubiase at the Tamale Sports Stadium and the win somehow improves their standings as the battle for the last club to be relegated continues.
