The sixteen participating clubs in the premiership would from today have the opportunity augment their squads ahead of the second round the league 2006/07 soccer season.
For the first time in the history of Ghana football, a second transfer window would be re-opened amidst the keen interest by clubs add to their stock.
The move is in accordance with Article 28 1(d) of the Ghana Football Association regulations which makes provisions for the reopening of registration at the close of the first round of the premier league.
The one week registration exercise will commence on December 27, 2006 and end on Friday, January 5 2007.
All participating clubs in the premiership interested in registering players for the second round of the competition are expected to complete their signings before the deadline.
A host of players are expected to move in opposite directions but the major transfers wouldn’t be between premiership sides trading players but clubs signing on talents from the lower leagues and Ghanaian players from outside the country.
Only a few premiership players are expected to secure moves when the transfer window re-opens.
The reopening of the transfer window forms part of innovations adopted at GFA’s Congress this year to develop the game and align it with the European calendar, and will see the Ghanaian league season run from July to April.
