A Sunyani Magistrate Court has granted bail to six rioters who have been charged for misconduct after Sunday’s premiership match at the Coronation park.
The rioters would re-appear in two weeks time on November 27 for another hearing.
The presiding judge, Justice Zogah awarded bail at 20 million cedis and a surety each for every one of the six suspects.
All six rioters were charged with causing harm, damage, assault and rioting
The suspects represented by Williewise Kyeremeh pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.
Five of the suspects - Thomas Arhinful, Kwame Yeboah, Yaw Asamoah, Nimpong Abeka and Frank Amankwah were present in court with the sixth person - Kwadwo Twenebuah absent because of poor health.
The six suspects were picked up in the post match disorder that ensued at stadium grounds detained by the Sunyani Police following AshantiGold’s 2-1 loss to King Faisal on Sunday.
The suspected rioters are alleged to have attacked Mr. Kwabena Munufie, secretary of the Brong Ahafo Regional Football Association.
Reports indicate that some property at the Coronation park grounds were destroyed after King Faisal ended the nine-game unbeaten run in the premiership.
The aggrieved person’s believed to be supporters of AshantiGold are said to have ripped off some plastic seats following a late stunner by the home side.
AshantiGold went ahead first through the league’s top scorer Alex Asamoah in the first half.
But in the second half, Micky Ofosu got the equalizer for King Faisal in the 70th minute before an 89th minute penalty awarded Faisal was converted by Owusu Agyemang.
