The Premier League Management Committee on the 29th of January reviewed a viral video showing an assault on a Kotoko Fan at the Accra Sports stadium during its weekly meeting at the Head Office of the Ghana Football Association

The video which shows a fan in a jubilant mood being assaulted by Patrick Allotey, a member of the sports fraternity and the Ghana Boxing Association comes as a shock to the committee

We are appalled about the incidence especially in a time when all stakeholders are rallying together to root out hooligans from the game

It must be stressed that getting rid of all forms of violence requires the mutual respect of all stakeholders. We completely condemn the actions of Patrick and hope the Ghana Boxing Association will take the necessary action against him

We also urge the Ghana Police service to give the victim the needed opportunity as he seeks redress either through the courts or out of court

All stakeholders need to note that the success of the relaunched League requires strict adherence to our statutes, processes, and respect for one another. Any unruly behavior at any match center is a complete affront to the harmony required for the competition.

To the host team, we encourage you to review the situation and take the necessary actions to protect the sanity of your games and the security of all

The PLMC will continue to support all clubs and security agencies as we work towards improving security at all match centers

We thank the tens of thousands of Ghanaians who thronged the Accra Sports Stadium to support their respective clubs. Your presence is a clear indication that Ghana is on track to bringing back the love and igniting the passion
