AshantiGold's fine run in the second of the Glo Premier League continued on Sunday at the Kpando Park where they beat Heart of Lions 2-0.
The win extended the Miners' run of wins to six as Yaw Acheampong's side jump to second on the table and are 10 points off leaders, Asante Kotoko.
In-form striker Mohammed Yakubu opened the scoring after 6 minutes before Daniel Asamoah made it 2-nil before the break.
Lions' hopes of turning around their poor form was undone from the spot when striker Benjamin Fadi missed a penalty kick in their 80th minute.
Three minutes later, the visitors were reduced to 10 men as Moussa Kassie was shown the red card.
