Emmanuel extended his goal tally in the African Champions League to 12 but could not save Berekum Chelsea from a 4-1 defeat to Al-Ahly on Saturday in Cairo.

The defeat was the first for the Ghanaian side in their tournament debut.

It was a night to forget as the match played behind closed-doors at the Military Academy Stadium saw either side finish with 10 men after Richard Kissi Boateng and Wael Gomaa were sent off before halftime and in the 63rd minute respectively.

With three matches to go, Chelsea, who slip to third in Group B need to bounce back when they welcome Ahly in the return clash on the weekend of 17-19 August at home.

Ahly led two-nil by the 33rd minute with goals from Abdallah El-Saied and defender Mohamed Naguib before the competition's top-scorer, Clottey had pulled one back on the stroke of halftime from a penalty.

But a second half brace by winger Waild Soliman crushed Chelsea's efforts as the Ghanaian side need to salvage their campaign with the advantage of two home games.
