Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah talks about his expectations ahead of his first training session with the Ghana team ahead of next month's 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

Appiah meets up with majority of his called up players at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday before the up-coming double-header against against Lesotho and Zambia.

The Ghana coach, who was appointed last month has called up thirty players as he plans towards qualifying the Black Stars for a third World Cup finals.

He has freshened up his team, handing out call-ups to seven debutants. Nine local players have also been invited into Kwesi Appiah's first selection.

"I will always call the best players around. I have been monitoring the local league and have been seeing those excelling and doing well," Appiah said.

"I intend to make every position in the Black Stars very competitive. I have a target and to achieve that we need to put in the best and expect the best possible results."

Appiah who is open to giving every player an opportunity to excel however insists his methods will be stamped on the team.

"I will do it my way, it's my methods," the Black Stars coach said. "My philosophy is to defend as a team and attack as a team."

"We will work as one unit and maintain team discipline. The team's code of conduct will be binding for everyone."

The squad will be pruned before the team departs to Kumasi on 27th May ahead of the match against Lesotho on 1st June, 2012.

Ghana face Lesotho in Kumasi for Appiah's first game before they play Zambia on June 9 in Ndorla.
