Dominic Adiyiah rightly earned the plaudits for his striking abilities in 2009 when he helped Ghana to a hat-trick of titles at the Under-20 level.
Adiyiah has hogged the limelight in recent times after Ghana's victory first at the WAFU Cup, the Africa Youth Championships before helping the Black Satellites to a historic first victory at the World Youth event in Egypt last year.
The star of the world tournament, Adiyiah, whose eight goals made him the most outstanding player of that tournament where he scooped the Golden Ball and Golden Shoe awards, a first by an African.
His name appears to be synonymous with honours as he was rewarded with the Best Young Player on the continent at the Glo-CAF Awards held in the Ghanaian capital, Accra on Thursday.
“This is a great moment for me. This achievement remains the dream of every young player and [I am] proud to have attained it,” he said.
The young striker now hopes to continue improving in order to reach a similar status to what he has so far achieved.
“This is just the beginning and I hope to climb my way to the top successfully as well,” Adiyiah added.
A memorable year - 2009 - for the youngster, whose exploits was rewarded with January move to AC Milan and a place in the senior team, the Black Stars at the 2010 African Nations Cup.
