Captain of the Black Stars, John Mensah and his wife have made the single-largest donation ever to a Ghanaian Orphanage, the Village of Hope Orphanage based in Gomoa Fetteh in the Central region.

The couple made a cash donation of 6,000 Ghana Cedis ($6,000), food items, detergents, toiletries, cloths, fruit drinks and confectionaries.

According to the wife of the Black Stars defender, Henrietta Mensah, the donation was only to fulfill the family's promise and also to encourage the children at the orphanage to be studious.

The management of the Orphanage expressed their gratitude to the Black Stars player and the wife.

The donation was to honour a promise made by the couple last year when they paid a visit to the kids with an amount of 4,000 Ghana Cedis.
