Ghanaian fans have been thrilled with the standard of football at the African Cup of Nations.
However just as the excitement surrounding the tournament heads into the final stages, the fans have raised concerns at the level of officiating displayed in some games.
Two matches have come under the critical fans’ lenses.
First to be mentioned was the Ghana and Nigeria match on Sunday and the second being the game on Monday in Tamale between Tunisia and Cameroon. Both were quarter-final matches.
Unimpressed home fans say they have been left frustrated by the officiating in those two games.
And ahead of Thursday’s game involving Ghana and Cameroon at the Ohene Djan Stadium, the fans have directed their concerns towards the Confederation of African Football to remedy the situation as the tournament nears the final stages.
According to some fans, the track record of CAF’s appointed Moroccan referee, El Arjoun Abderrahim in past matches involving both sides raises serious concerns.
The fans cite Abderrahim for his red card decision against Ghana’s Laryea Kingston in the last tournament and his awarding of a late penalty to Cameroon on the final day of the 2006 World Cup qualifying campaign.
