The 2008 African Cup of Nation, still in its group stages has claimed its first coaching casualty as Henryk Kasperczak steps down as coach of Senegal.
The Polish coach resigned his post on Monday a day after his team's 3-1 defeat by Angola in Tamale.
Sunday's defeat left Senegal on the brink of elimination from the tournament after being touted as one of the early favourites.
"I have offered my resignation to the football federation and it has been accepted," Kasperczak told a news conference.
"I have told the players of my decision. "I'm the one who is responsible for the results.
Kasperczak was named Senegal coach in May 2006 after previous stints with Ivory Coast, Tunisia and Mali.
