Major football powerbrokers, Sepp Blatter, Issa Hayatou and Michel Platini would join forces with members of the Ghana Football Association to inaugurate FIFA funded Goal Projects in the country on Saturday.
As Ghana prepares to play host to the rest of the world in hosting the African Cup of Nations, the FA’s guests - FIFA President, Sepp Blatter, Issa Hayatou, who is the President of the Confederation of African Football and President of the Union of European Football Association, Michael Platini - aside their roles at the CAN, would commission three major projects funded by FIFA geared at improving the infrastructural base of the game.
Sepp Blatter would inaugurate the FIFA funded Goal Projects in Ghana, on January 19, a day before the start of the African Cup of Nations.
FIFA has supported Ghana by providing funds for the construction of the technical centre in Prampram - the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence - the new Ghana Football Association secretariat in Accra and the laying of an artificial pitch at the Tema Park.
The first phase of the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence was made possible through the FIFA Goal Project funds of a $400,000 grant.
FIFA subsequently made funds available for the construction of the FA’s new secretariat in Accra and the laying of an artificial turf at the Tema Park which has been completed.
The Ghana Football Association after FIFA’s initial support has improved other facilities at the national camp in Prampram.
Already late last year, workers have started work in Prampram on the site, the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence as the second phase of construction work progresses.
