After a protracted legal battle, the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association has set Monday, August 6, as the date for the commencement of re-hearing into cases involving four division one clubs - Mighty Jets vrs Great Mariners and Nania FC vrs Okwawu United.
The agenda for the disciplinary sitting is the high scoring results involving all four clubs on the last day of the Zone III promotion campaign in March 2007.
Though an earlier ruling was passed, a petition by the clubs had the Appeals Committee of the FA setting aside the ruling of the Disciplinary Committee banning the clubs for their roles in playing a match of convenience and directed the disciplinary body to re hear the matter.
The matter could not be re-heard after two of the involved clubs – Mighty Jets and Nania FC, filed suits in court challenging the Appeals Committee decision to have its Disciplinary Committee re-hear the matter.
However, both cases were dismissed by the courts setting the stage for the re-hearing of the cases by the Disciplinary Committee.
Nania FC beat Okwawu United 31-0 on the last day of the promotion league while Mighty Jets were handed a 28-0 defeat by Great Mariners.
