The Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association has found four division one clubs, team officials and some 46 players guilty for their roles in playing in a non-competitive match during the last day of the promotion league.
The four clubs – Mighty Jets, Great Mariners, Okwawu United and Nania FC appeared before the Football Association’s panel in connection with the Zone III fixture results on the final day for promotion to the premiership which produced 59 goals involving the four teams on March 28.
The results of the matches have been declared null and void and expunged from the FA’s records in pursuant of Article 34 1 (i) and (7).
All the clubs forfeit the matches and have been dogged three points each from their accumulated build up in the Zonal middle league
Nania FC, Mighty Jets, Great Mariners and Okwawu United have all been demoted from division one to the division three in accordance with Article 39, (4) (9).
The four clubs have each been slapped with a fine of 50 million Cedis in accordance with Article 39, (4) (9) of the FA regulations.
Players who featured in the match-day-III fixture involving the four clubs have also been hit with a year’s ban with effect from the end of the season.

All the reserve players who did not have the opportunity to play at all and those who were substituted before the 63rd minute are exonerated and are not affected by the ban. (Great Mariners vrs Mighty Jets)

However, Akwasi Boakye, Godspower Igbah and Aryeetey Joseph of Okwawu United were replaced in the 46th and 52nd minute are exonerated.
Also, Nania FC’s K. Addey, Yusif Babamu and Daniel Aidoo who were replaced in the 40th and 46th minutes are exonerated.
Team officials of the four clubs on the day would serve a year’s ban as stipulated by Article 35 (5) (d) and are barred from entering any football dressing rooms and from sitting on substitutes bench for any match organized or sanctioned by the GFA as set out under Article 39 (3) (4) of the FA statutes.
They are : Alhaji Sulley, Adolf Adu Botwe, John Amponsah, John Labeh and Atta Kakra (all of Okwawu United), Abedi Pele, George Lomotey, Annor Walker, Korley Laryea and Armen Brynes ( all of Nania FC), Abrahams Allotey, W.O. Darkwah, Nortey Sowah, Nii Kwaatse and Richard Ayiku (Great Mariners) and Shakiru Dauda, Nat Okuonor and Nortey Sowah (Mighty Jets)
Nania FC topped the group after they had incredibly beaten Okwawu United 31-0.
Okwawu United who before the game had crushed out of contention were down 0-1 by half time but back recess, the former premiership side picked the ball from the back of the net thirty times as Nania completed the rout.
Great Mariners in the other group fixture were just three goals shy of equaling that feat as they walloped Mighty Jets 28-0.
