The Confederation of African Football – CAF, has postponed Asante Kotoko’s Champions League opener against Gambia’s Port Authority.
Kotoko, one of Ghana’s two representatives for this year’s competition were initially billed to host the first leg tie against the Gambian side on January 28 in Obuasi.
However, the sport controlling body has extended by a week, to February 3, the date for the opener with the return fixture still fixed for February 11.
According to CAF, the decision to push forward the date for the first leg was at the request of Kotoko’s opponents.
Port Authority have two players representing the Gambian squad in the African Youth Championship in Congo.
CAF says the postponement is in line with their regulations.
