The sitting judge hearing the contempt case against the Football Association has adjourned the matter indefinitely.
The adjournment is as a result of the Ghana Football Association’s decision invoke the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court to prohibit Justice Anthony Kofi Abada from hearing the contempt application presently before him.
Justice Anthony Kofi Abada called the two parties to his chambers for deliberations and adjourned the case because of the order of prohibition.
Head of the FA’s legal team, Thaddeus Sory sought the order to prevent the trial judge from continuing with the hearing of the contempt application.
The order of prohibition has been necessitated as a result of pronouncements by the trial judge, Justice Anthony Kofi Abada on the contempt case which the Football Association dims as being unfair.
The contempt application against the six members of the FA stands adjourned until the matter is determined.
Emmanuel Otu Quaye filed contempt charges against Kwesi Nyantakyi, President of the Football Association, Kofi Nsiah, General Secretary of the FA, Kweku Ampim Darko, Deputy General Secretary, Randy Abbey, FA spokesperson and Welbeck Abra-Appiah, Chairman of the Professional League Board for allegedly defying a court order.
The alleged order sought to place an injunction on the seventh week league matches of the 2006/2007 OneTouch Premier League.
Emmanuel Otu Quaye sought the injunction on the league over the interpretation of clauses in the GFA statutes after the registration of Ishmael Addo and Charles Taylor by Accra Hearts of Oak was rejected
The FA went ahead to honour the league matches that weekend since it had not been served with the writ placing an injunction on the league.
Accra Hearts of Oak however failed to attend its match against Tema Youth on the basis of the injunction.
The plaintiff cited the FA for contempt of court.
